Oscillation Drop Generator
 
 
The ODG, oscillating drop generator is specially engineered to work with the OCA series It is software controlled, piezoelectric device for the generation of liquid oscillating drops.

ODG is used for the investigation of viscoelastic properties (e.g.real and imaginary part of the interfacial dilatational modulus)of liquid/gas or liquid/liquid interfaces in three different excitation modes. independently controllable for drop volume or drop area:

  • Constant volume (area) mode: max. 1...2 mm axis symmetric drop shapeoscillations (viscosity dependant)
  • Harmonic volume (area) mode: typically 5...20 µL constant part,dV = 0...10 µL (for viscosities < 50 mPas)- Relaxational mode: instant increase/decrease in drop volume dV = 0...10 µLfor drop shape relaxation studies (for viscosities < 5 mPas)
  • Frequency range: about 0.01...25 Hz (viscosity dependant) Consisting of:- Carrier for oscillation mechanics with fine adjustment screws for the axial and horizontal positioning- Oscillation mechanics- Control electronics with frequency generator
  • Dynamic surface/interfacial tension measuring range: 0.05...2000 mN/m
